Never Give Up - Jane Ginnane 2008
Jane Ginnane had worked as an outreach nurse for 10 years in Wellington’s Te Aro Health Centre when I was asked to document her work with the city’s homeless. Her mantra was 'never give up' on the people she cared for. “Some of them might have done heinous things in their lives, but I look for some good in people and concentrate on that. I don’t look at their prison records; I see the person instead and like them. I’m not a do-gooder at all. I simply believe these people are worthy of help and I want people to know that.” This photo essay was published in Kai Tiaki Nursing New Zealand, December January 2008/2009, accompanied by an article by Co-Editor Anne Manchester.
